City Council News
The Emergency demolition of the Pumper on Washington Street in downtown Cannelton was stopped by a Gibson County Judge. We ae currently waiting on a new date on a court hearing on the properties. The Gainer building was take down before the court order was received. The City is being held up cleaning up the build rubble by the court order. The court date on May 19, 2023 was cancelled by the judge after a witness for the other party could not attend. Will update as soon as a new date has been set.
The Board of Public Works and the City Council voted to increase the Trash Fee to $25.00 per house hold to help cover the increased cost. The City council agree to not to to try and cover the whole cost but to jus to pass on a portion of the increased costs costs incurred by the city.

Plastics Non-Rigid Plastics of all colors must have #1through 7 in a triangle rinsed with caps removed plastics caps accepted at Cannelton location only. No pups with metal springs or parts. accepted n brown paper bags only. Grocery bags should be returned to Walmart.. No Styrofoam or unmarked plastics For information on ridged plastics .please call 812-547-9787 ( chairs ,playhouses etc)
Glass Not accepted in Derby Bottles and screw top jars only ( rinsed and labels removed) Clear, green and brown only clear in separate bag. Gives vases to attendant No drinking glasses, ceramics, light bulbs, candle glass, crystal, plates etc.
Paper Newspapers and inserts, White non glossy white office paper, copy paper, empty sweetener packs, envelops, shredded paper, index cards, post it notes, paper flyers, junk mail as long as paper only. cardboard broken down Magazines and catalogs. Used /New Asphalt Shingles and tar paper ( no trash) accept in Cannelton only for a fee. Construction Debris accepted at WCA/FWS between Hawesville and Lewisport on Hwy 60 for a fee 270 Propane Tanks can sometimes be returned to the place of purchase. Tires are accepted at Tell City Tire Tell City, Hilltop Tore Evanston and Cannelton and Branchville sites for a fee

There is no fee to Perry County Residents. Cost in included in the Annual Perry County Recycling Initiative

Note! See attendant so items can be out in the proper locations. Water base and Latex paints are only hazardous in liquid form. dry the liquid and seal cans. You can also add cat litter or saw dust to speed drying times.
Medications can be dropped off at the CVS Container in the lobby of the Tell City Police Department. they do not accept liquids, inhalers, aerosols, thermometers or needles.
